October Trustees Work Session
One could almost hear the "whooosh" as two-thirds of the meeting room exited after Mayor Conrad Teller announced that nothing would be discussed about Hampton Synagogue's eruv application at the Work Session.
(Rumor had it that the eruv would be on the calendar... it wasn't and never was.)
And no one brought up last Saturday night's armed robbery at The Post Stop Cafe 'til the very end when Dune Road activist Jacqueline Sprotte announced that, as a measure of community support for the popular Main Street restaurant, she was asking everyone to show up for cocktails or dinner or a nightcap this Saturday evening.
As the previous OtBB entree predicted, the alarmist reaction to the shocking event would "blow over."
There was also some discussion about "Main Street Music Amplification" by the Trustees, which extended to Sunset Avenue and the operation of an approved "coffee house" which as if by wizardry seems to have transmogrified into a non-permitted "Martini & Wine Bar."
This is scheduled for a fuller hearing at the November 6th Village Board meeting.
The eruv will likely get some attention then as well... no guarantees, however.
