Just the fact that it has Bruckheimer's name attached to it gives me pause, but the old ways die hard and the legendary masked man of the Western Plains is such a touchstone of my youth, that I can't help but focus on July 3, 2013, the most recent revised release date.
(Much of that has been previously addressed in "Return with us now to those....")
More photos have been released, as well as a "teaser trailer, "and this now falls under the heading of "I can't wait" for The Lone Ranger to ride again!
Two of the more compelling images:
There's no arguing the fact that 6'5" Arnie Hammer as the title character, is every bit the imposing figure as the last actor to play the role, Klinton Spilsbury... and he won't need to have his voice dubbed!
What he may lack in physical stature at 5'10" Johnny Depp more than makes up for in his quirky characterizations... if he ever rented in your neighborhood, your lawn would die...
He'll be great, and the film will suffer only if director Gore Verbinski lets his fondness for big effects over-power the story.
Pay particular attention to the two brief shots of "Tonto" in the final 15 seconds of the 106 second trailer... July 3rd can't come soon enough.
If however the strains of the William Tell Overture are nowhere heard of the film's soundtrack, I might have to pass!
