Which way to root…

...in the 2010 World Serious, starting this evening everywhere in the universe with the critical exception of Cablevisionland.

(It's Day 12 of a Cablevision/News Corp-Fox fees dispute cum propaganda war which has seen two New York Football Giants games and the entire six-game National League Champtonship Series denied to local cable customers.)

It'll be tough to get seriously interested in a series of contests I won't be able to watch...

(Anyone got DirecTV for the occasion?)

...but I usually can find some aspect of one of the teams to afford me a rooting interest.

As a Dodgers' fan... Brooklyn, Los Angeles, no matter... in a situation such as this Fall's match-up, I'll opt for the National League team, but the Giants?!?

(New York, San Francisco, no matter!)

Hey! The bitter memories of '51 and '62... even '82... still sear indelibly.

So I'll go with the Texas Rangers 'cause they seem like team of destiny, #1, and, #2, it would just be too irksome to hear the words "The World Champion San Francisco Giants" uttered throughout the 2011 season.
