Do ya think?!?

From NBC New York's website:

"The victim, a married father with three children, was discovered bound and strangled with seven stab wounds. Dtectives{sic} on the scene believed the brutal nature of the crime screamed foul play."

And that's why they're called "detectives!"

Better then what we can say about the two detectives in Westhampton Beach. They still have not been able to solve the robbery at The Post Stop Cafe almost a year and half ago.

Hurry up boys, the trail is getting cold.

What exactly have they "solved" recently? Or ever, for that matter?

They did find that 'possum shooting rascal.

Um, actually, neither detective had anything to do with that. Then-Lieutenant Trevor Gonce responded to the dispatcher (Town, not even the Village!) notification that they'd received a "Shots fired!" call, and tracked it back to the Oak Street (unlicensed) Bed'n'Breakfast location of then-Deputy Mayor Jim Kametler. That's coming up on its third anniversary next week.

The 'possum is still laughing over that one.

You don't give the Westhampton Beach Police Department enough credit. Back in the day they did solve the mystery of the Cranberry Marsh ghost. After reports of a child yelling for help in the middle of the night were made, the WHBPD responded to the duck pond and being careful to stay on the Village side and not the Quiogue side, the ghostly "Hellllppp" was determined to be a rogue peacock and the case of the Cranberry Marsh ghost was successfully closed.

Of such stuff are Gold Shield careers made!
